In
this course students will be developing the skills necessary
to engineer and create Simple machine parts such as cams and
gears. Students will also explore developments and use descriptive
geometry in conjuction with ACAD 2002 to resolve true lengths
of lines and true shapes of models. Engineering Drafting is
a challenging and rewarding skill and a useful tool for a student
exploring a career in Engineering. The above animation and picture
were created by Engineering and Cadd Students as examples of
their work and what skills a potential student can obtain from
taking this course.
As
you all know, we see the world from a perspective view and hardly
anything we see could be accurately measured and replicated.
This principle of perspective view has been known for thousands
of years. In Engineering drafting we will resolve ture lengths
and sizes of all models thru the use of orthographic and isometric
projection techniques. Students will learn how to use Circle
Projection to resolve the distortion of a circle that is created
in isometric perspective and use this same technique to find
non-isometric lines in a drawing.
